Service Description

We've all been dealing with a fair amount of stress over this past couple of years and finding ways to deal with balancing all of life's curveballs can be tricky. What's an art journal? It's kind of like a sketch book often coupled with writing. Art Journaling is a great tool to help cope with life's unexpected turns. In this 4 week Art Journaling Class, students will be introduced to what it means to create an "Art Journal" and explore how to begin their own. The first week, the instructor will have students prep the background for 2 double page spreads, and demonstrate a number of techniques and materials that can be used in the following weeks. It's strongly recommended participants bring something to take notes with for Week 1. In the following 3 weeks, students will have access to the materials demonstrated the first night, and are also welcome to bring a small number of materials in from home if desired. "Art Journal Prompts" resources will also be shared, and students can choose to work from a prompt or simply allow the materials to guide them in their spreads. No previous art experience is required to start this journey. If you're art-curious and are looking for an excuse to creatively play, this will work for you! It's also great for those who have practiced before, as it can introduce new ways of journaling and creating while surrounded by like-minded individuals. Students must provide their own sketchbook for this class. Mixed Media paper is what is recommended. Spiral bound or hard covered journals are acceptable. Maximum Number of Students: 8 Minimum Needed to Run: 3 Tuition: $125 Materials: $20
