Cold Wax and Collage Workshop

Service Description

Painting with wax is a passion and joy for me. Wax mediums have a textural quality that have so many different ways to enhance your creativity. Whether you work with encaustic or cold wax, the conceal and reveal aspects of both mediums add a unique feel and dimension to your art. In this class we will explore the creative aspects painting with cold wax medium using Eco-Friendly methods of application. Cold wax medium is a versatile addition to your painting toolbox. It is easily available and easy to work with. There is very little set up and the application techniques are endless. For this course we will be creating a painting using collage, a water based oil paint, and cold wax. Supplies are included in the workshop, but you are welcome to bring your own. Techniques we’ll cover: The qualities of cold wax using Eco-Friendly options Color mixing for wax painting Conceal and Reveal enhancements Texture and Mark making Easy and fun additives for cold wax Supplies: Commercial Cold Wax- Gamblin Arches oil paper Wood panel primed with Gesso Collage papers (I find thinner papers work best, but really the sky is the limit) Matte Medium Lukas Water Soluble Oil Paints Palette knives- various sizes Bristle Brushes- various sizes Soft Brayer Catalyst Wedge or Bowl Scraper Stencils Skewers, bubble wrap, other objects for mark making.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that sometimes things come up after you've registered for a class. Please understand that once a class is set to run, materials have been purchased in preparation and that minimums need to be maintained to run classes. Our canellation policy for classes is as follows: Registrants cancelling for a class more than 14 days in advance are given a 100% Refund or credit for a future class. 8-13 days in advance provides a 100% credit for a future class, but no refunds. 3-7 days in advance provides a 50% credit towards a future class. Those cancelling within 48 hours of a class, or who fail to show up for a class forfeit their tuition fee.
